Books, mead, and a movie

Smita recommends a novel about a slave ship builder called Sacred Hunger.

Saw Sideways at Kendall Square tonight with John and Smita. Great flic.

Before the film we started a batch of mead with the wild blackberry honey from Washington State, Snoqualmie Valley Honey Farm in North Bend, WA.

Note: Read Sacred Hunger over Winter Break in Brazil and loved it. Fabulous books. Sideways has not aged as well, though, and I now look at the "great flic" comment with a twinge of regret. It was enjoyable, but not great. Non-stop, Oscar-focused advertising in the New York Times online edition has not helped its case with me, exactly the opposite, actually.
